Colobus Monkey

Young colobus females carry their mother's infants to practice for when they have their own kids. The infant's bright white neonatal coat advertises its availability to be babysat during its first 3-5 months. Only leaf-eating monkeys practice this unique behavior--their abundant food source reduces females' motivation to sabotage each others' success.

There are several species of Red Colobus Monkey, but this one lives only in Zanzibar Island, Tanzania, Africa.
