This celebrated masterpiece by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio is executed in the chiaroscuro style. According to the Gospel of St John, the other disciples said to Doubting Thomas “We have seen the Lord.” But he said unto them, “Unless I shall see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe.”
