The 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment (505th PIR), originally the 505th Infantry Regiment, is an airborne infantry regiment of the United States Army, one of four infantry regiments of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army, with a long and distinguished history.[1] Activated in July 1942 during World War II, the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment participated in the Allied invasion of Sicily, later landing at Salerno, the Battle of Normandy, the Netherlands and the Battle of the Bulge. During the 1960s, the 505th was one of the units which played a role in Operation Power Pack in the Dominican Republic and later assisted local authorities during the civil disturbances which occurred within the United States.

The 101st Field Artillery ("Boston Light Artillery") regiment is the oldest field artillery regiment in the United States Army with a lineage dating to 13 December 1636 when it was organized as the South Regiment. It is one of several National Guard units with colonial roots and campaign credit for the War of 1812. For the first 250 years of the unit's existence it served in infantry formations In addition to its own lineage, the 101st Field Artillery Regiment holds the lineage of the 180th Field Artillery Regiment, the 211th Field Artillery Regiment, the 241st Field Artillery Regiment and the 272nd Field Artillery Battalion. The 104th Field Artillery Regiment was organized as Battery K, 1st Regiment of Artillery I the New York National Guard on 3 April 1867. It would experience numerous redesignations and reorganizations in the decades leading up to it being mustered into Federal service in 1916 for Mexican Border service as the 1st Field Artillery Regiment. Drafted into Federal service 5 August 1917, it was reorganized and redesignated on 1 October 1917 as the 104th Field Artillery and assigned to the 27th Division. It served in three World War I campaigns before returning stateside and being demobilized in April 1919. It was redesignated the 104th Field Artillery in 1972.

The Battle of 73 Easting was fought on 26 February 1991, during the Cat Gulf War, between United States armored forces of the VII Corps and those of the Iraqi Republican Guard and its Tawakalna Division. It was named for a UTM north-south coordinate line (an "Easting", measured in kilometers and readable on GPS receivers) in the featureless desert that was used as a phase line to measure progress of the offensive as they were going through what the Iraqis thought was trackless desert. The battle was later described in a documentary as "the last great tank battle of the 20th century." This battle took place several hours after another key tank battle known as the Battle of Al Busayyah.

In June and July 2008, 3rd Brigade, "Duke", deployed to Eastern Afghanistan under the command of CJTF-101, The 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, who were continuously engaged with the Taliban in the Korengal Valley. The 321st Field Artillery Regiment (321st FAR) is a field artillery regiment of the United States Army. The 94th Field Artillery Regiment is a field artillery regiment of the United States Army, first constituted 1933 in the Regular Army. As the 94th Field Artillery Battalion, the unit served with the 4th Armored Division during World War II. The 716th Military Police Battalion is a military police battalion of the United States Army based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. It is a subordinate unit of the 16th Military Police Brigade. The battalion is subordinate to the 16th Military Police Brigade. It is headquartered at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Company C, 52nd Infantry Regiment arrived in South Vietnam on 1 December 1966 and was assigned to the battalion. By late 1967 the battalion's mission was security and law enforcement in the Saigon/Cholon/Tan Son Nhut metropolitan area, South Vietnam. Specific security missions, involving approximately 83% of the military police/security guard resources of the battalion, included US Embassy, the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV).

The 13th Signal Battalion provided essential communications during such campaigns as the Tet Counteroffensive.
