This image depicts the fountain on the wonderful square in Evora, Portugal, I was there on an extraordinarily clear day to enjoy the history and beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Evora has a history that goes back thousands of years, including periods of occupation by the Romans and the Moors.

He spent many years traveling through Spain, France and the Netherlands, where he corresponded with Erasmus of Rotterdam and other men of remarkable intellect. He was also a close friend of King Juan III and his children, and served as guardian of the Infante D. Duarte. He is buried in the chapel of the right transept of the cathedral of Évora, Portugal. Resende enjoyed considerable fame throughout his life, but modern historiography has indicated that he was not very scrupulous or precise in his works. In Portuguese he wrote: Ancient history of the city of Evora (ibid., 1553) Life of Infante D. Duarte (Lisbon, 1789) His main work in Latin was De Antiquitatibus Lusitaniae (Evora, 1593).
