Ginger Maguire, nicknamed Sky Girl, was the star of several World War II aviation adventures, though she was apparently a genuine less-than-liberated mental lightweight. She was constantly in search of a husband as well as a career in aviation. She eventually managed to get a job ferrying military equipment around the Pacific. Post-war, Sky Girl got a job as a waitress at an airport cafe and dyed her hair blond but still continued to have aerial adventures. She had no super powers, but she could fly a plane...just not very well. She often crashed planes and caused property damage.

Chuck Lane was a rookie cop who felt he could do more good than by just being a cop alone. He learned his ancestor was a jester in a medieval court and used his ancestry to base the costumed identity of Jester. As the Jester, Lane became a comical crime fighter making a laughing-stock out of his enemies. The Jester was known to be unpredictable and would use his eerie laugh and jingling bells to intimidate criminals. Chuck wore his jester costume underneath his cop uniform.

Ace Harlem was an African-American police detective who operated in an unnamed American city (most likely New York City). He was an observant, skillful detective with a track record that earned him the respect of the city's African-American community. He was a strong believer in justice as an innate force in the universe, that, one way or another, anybody who embarks on the life of crime will eventually suffer the consequences. He came into conflict with the professional criminal, Charm Root.

Joan Wayne was a Washington D.C. stenographer who grew tired of watching corrupt politicians. She decided to help the FBI by putting on a costume and fighting the crooked politicians as Miss Victory. It seems she has superhuman strength and limited invulnerability because of her abilities to survive explosions, break free of ropes, or knock down walls. Her enemies include the Mad Monster. She is considered the first patriotic heroine.

The Green Ghost was a mysterious hero who made criminals think they were dealing with the supernatural. The Green Ghost had no powers, but outside of his clever tricks, he also used green darts which criminals know are his calling cards. The Green Ghost was also not above lethal force as he killed a gangster by shooting him in the throat with one of his darts. Both his identity and costume are left undescribed in the story.

The mysterious Moon Moose!

Robert Morgan was the American student of an ancient Egyptian mystic called The Old Man of the Pyramids. He schooled Morgan in "all the ancient and modern sciences" and gave him the "Amulet of Annihilation, the weapon of the forces of right" which he tied around his right arm. The Amulet grants him powers including super-strength, super-speed, flight, the ability to generate electricity and radiate “lightning heat,” and a measure of invulnerability. His powers can be recharged by electricity.

Ace Egan found a crashed UFO in the year 1940. He decided to use the ship's advanced technological wonders to combat criminals as the costumed aviator the Ace of Space.

Gary Kennedy and his brother were shot down by criminals. He vowed to return from the dead to avenge his brother's death - and he did, becoming a ghost with the ability to be super strong when solid and fly or possess people as a ghost. He used his new ghostly powers to fight crime.

Space Patrol is a science fiction adventure series that was originally aimed at juvenile audiences of the early 1950's via television, radio, and comic books. However, it soon developed a sizable adult audience such that by 1954, the program consistently ranked in the top 10 shows broadcast on a Saturday.

Black X (sometimes known as Black Ace) was a charming American spy who fought the enemies of freedom both overseas and back in the states. He was originally Richard Spencer, a Washington D.C. bureaucrat and a fierce fighter against corruption. He faked his death in order to continue helping his country without worrying about being targeted. When World War II ended, he retired from spying and became a private investigator.

The Cisco Kid was the “Robin Hood of the Old West,” taking on evil ranchers, mining companies, stagecoach robbers, and anyone else who threatened the settlers on the American frontier in the 19th century. With the aid of comedic sidekick Pancho and his intrepid horse Diablo, Cisco patrolled the plains and high desert in pulp magazines, paperbacks, TV and radio shows, and comic books during the 1940s and ’50s.

Jinx Jordan was a crime reporter who was assisted by a newsboy named Larry. Jinx depended on his fists and wits rather than his telephone and typewriter to gather front page stories. Some of his cases included capturing the murderer of a stage beauty and avenging victims of gang violence. He also dealt with villains such as Count Morphine.

The monks heal O'Brian, both in body and mind. When he finishes recuperating, Eel discovers he can stretch and form his body into almost anything. He decides to use his new super powers to fight crime.
