OceanGate Inc. is a privately owned U.S. company in Everett, Washington, that provides crewed submersibles for tourism, industry, research, and exploration. The company was founded in 2009 by Stockton Rush and Guillermo Söhnlein. The company acquired a submersible vessel, Antipodes, and later built two of its own: Cyclops 1 and Titan. In 2021, OceanGate began taking paying tourists, in its Titan submersible, to visit the wreck of the Titanic. As of 2022, the price to be a passenger on an OceanGate expedition to the Titanic shipwreck is US$250,000 per person.

The Folk Implosion is an American band founded in the early 1990s by Lou Barlow and John Davis. It was initially a side-project started by Barlow to explore different territory than that being canvassed with his primary band at the time, Sebadoh. The name is a play on the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

Fat Man atomic bomb blueprint. Developed by the US military, this was the second atom bomb used in warfare. It was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki on 9th August 1945, detonating with the force of 21,000 tons of TNT. It destroyed an area several kilometres across, killing some 75,000 people. The bomb was an implosion type (some of the imploders shown at left and at centre) codenamed 'Fat Man' (Y-1561 F.M.). It was 3.25 metres long, weighed over 4.5 tons, and contained 6 kilograms of plutonium. This blueprint was declassified in 1976.

In June 2023, the Titan imploded during a voyage to the Titanic shipwreck site, killing all 5 occupants on board, including the company founder Stockton Rush.

Titan was the second submersible designed and built by OceanGate, the first privately-owned submersible with an intended maximum depth of 4,000 m. It also was the first completed crewed submersible that used a hull constructed of titanium and carbon fiber composite materials, as most other human-carrying submersibles are designed with an all-metal pressure vessel. On June 18, 2023, OceanGate lost contact with Titan during its dive in 2023 to the Titanic. A massive international search and rescue operation ensued and ended on June 22, 2023 when debris from Titan, which had been destroyed in a catastrophic implosion, was discovered about 500 metres (1,600 ft) in front of the bow of Titanic.
