What began as a photograph taken from a hillside in Norway, of newly sprouted leaves overlooking a rushing river fed from May snow melt, has been morphed into this painterly image. Bright with spring colors!

Looking along the Næroyfjord from the village of Gudvangen in Norway. This is a narrow branch of the Sognefjord and is about 20Km long but just 250m wide at its narrowest point! The surrounding mountains soar above it to 1660m. Here it is easy to imagine Viking longboats making their way up the fjord to the warmth and safety of the village. A replica longboat on the shore reminds us of this heritage. This image is finished as a coloured pencil drawing.
