On a beautiful summer day, a fisherman stands at the end of the jetty by the Port Washington Breakwater lighthouse. This was taken in summer on the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan. n 1931, the Federal Government approved a project for improvements at Port Washington that included the construction of a north breakwater and shore extension. Plans for a light and fog signal to mark the outer end of the northern breakwater were prepared in 1934, and construction of the tower began under contract. The work was completed in 1935 at a cost of around $38,000. The metal, Art Deco tower rests on a twenty-foot-square, cement base that has large arches on each of its faces so it does not obstruct the view of mariners using the harbor. The towe...

Port Washington, Wisconsin, located at the mouth of Sauk Creek on Lake Michigan. In 1835, General Wooster Harrison became the town's first permanent settler, in what he originally named "Wisconsin City." Harrison later renamed the town "Washington". J. M. Bostwick was instrumental in the opening of the Wisconsin Chair Company in September 1888, the success of which allowed the town to flourish.[16] The Gilson Manufacturing Company started making garden tractors and tractor lawn mowers in 1894 and soon became the second-largest business, after the Wisconsin Chair Factory. In 1896, Delos and Herbert Smith brought their commercial fishing business to Port Washington as that harbor afforded them the use of a steam powered fish tug...

On a late winter morning in the harbor at Port Washington, Wisconsin, geese and ducks swim between the ice that has broken up along the Lake Michigan shore. The jetty that leads to the lighthouse is covered with ice buildup from the waves that crashed against it and froze the night before.

One of the last days of a long indian summer finds Lake Michigan calm, the skies blue and the lighthouse at the end of the jetty glistening white in the afternoon sun. This was taken in Port Washington, Wisconsin.

Completed in 1860 the Old Port Washington Lighthouse was converted into barracks in 1934 and the lantern room atop was removed. It was restored in 2001 thanks to a gift form Luxembourg. Contact me for customization.

Finished in 1935 on Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan, the Port Washington Breakwater Lighthouse is an Art Deco tower on a cement base. When it was first built there was a lantern room at the top as well.

Fort Worden Historical State Park in Port Townsend is a great destination for the day or for a long camping trip. This particular image is the Port Townsend Marine Science Center, with an amazing array of programs for all ages. At this beautiful park, people fly kites, sunbathe, beachcomb, sailing, camp out, visit historic officer's quarters, and just enjoy the beautiful Pacific Northwest scenery. This image is my original photo with painterfly watercolor effects applied.

The history of Bolens snowmobiles begins with another manufacturer, called Hus-Ski Limited from Pointe-Claire, Quebec. Hus-Ski built their first prototypes in 1957, but unlike traditional snowmobiles, Hus-Ski's design was a radical twin-track setup that was front driven. The tracks with the engine on top looked like a garden tractor, and the rider sat on a sled trailer behind the machine. Bolens purchased Hus-Ski Limited in 1965 and moved the production from Canada to Port Washington, Wisconsin. The Hus-Ski line was further refined and rebranded by Bolens and quickly became a top-selling snow machine, as the tow tractor configuration allowed multiple sleds to be daisy-chained together as needed to haul loads of various sizes.
