Excerpt: In the middle of her lake, the Lady urges those with dark hearts and cruel desires to gaze into the water. It is not always a sword they see beneath their searching reflection. Some see kingdoms beneath their thumb. Others see a power granted to them without limit. None see the pale swans effortlessly gliding across the surface of the water.
