A Tennessee gardener tending to a bed of irises, a beautiful flower with a wide variety of colors. The gardener is taking care of the plants, ensuring they will bloom and bring beauty to the garden.

This is my acrylic painting of the Tennessee state bird and flower, the mockingbird and iris. There are several different colors of the iris, by common acceptance the purple iris is considered the state flower. Tennessee was admitted to the union on June 1, 1796 as the 16th state. This painting is part of my state birds and flowers collection.
