The wooden cross that Christ died upon is the vehicle of our salvation. The Good Friday services give the opportunity to venerate the wood of the cross by kissing it. The wood also hearkens back to the birth of Jesus in a trough in a stable / manger.

This design is based off a piece of Ancient Egyptian artwork located in The Met depicting Akhenaten presenting an offering to the god Aten. The original artwork was damaged and I have maintained this in my version making a unique take on "traditional" renderings of Ancient Egyptian designs!
