I've been watching HBO's new series, a sort of sequel to Watchmen. I love Alan Moore's original work, and I have to say I quite like the series. Well, in the latter I caught sight of a redesigned flag of the USA, with 51 stars (after admission of Vietnam as a state), and being a fan of flags as I am, I thought it would be cool to recreate it. So here it is. It's given me a lot of ideas to play with, too -- maybe some of them end up as design here!

This is another of my flag hybrids. The sun plays a prominent role in both the Japanese and Argentinean flag, so I pondered what the transposing of said symbol in its original aesthetics from one to the other would look like? I hope you like it.

My second Japan-Argentina hybrid. The sun plays a prominent role in both the Japanese and Argentinean flag, so I pondered what the transposing of said symbol in its original aesthetics from one to the other would look like? I hope you like it. The celestial blue colour of the Argentine flag adds an interesting contrast.

My third and last Japan-Argentina hybrid. The sun plays a prominent role in both the Japanese and Argentinean flag, so I pondered what the transposing of said symbol in its original aesthetics from one to the other would look like? In this case, I took the layout and dimensions of the Imperial Japanese Navy's flag and transposed the red of Japan with Argentina's sky blue, and changed the rising sun itself with Argentina's "sol de mayo". I think this might be my favourite of the three.
