Aurora of Iridescence II

Aurora of Iridescence was painted at a time when I was experimenting with different ways of mixing and manipulating paint, and how to combine watercolour with other media. This painting was created by applying Windsor Blue and Viridian, along with smaller amounts of other blues and greens to damp paper and allowing them to mix and blend themselves with no intervention from me. Once dry the curved lines were applied using various oil pastels and the edges of household objects such as plates, mugs and jars The image here is a slightly cropped version of an original watercolour measuring 34 x 24cm, which is available for £100 plus delivery to your location - enquire via Bubblemail for more details.

Morning glory is a member of the Convolvulaceae family which also includes the Baby Hawaiian woodrose. Common morning glory is a garden escape; it is native to Mexico or Central America. Now its grown around the world, favouring tropical warm temperate climates. The most common active Morning glory variety is Heavenly blue, others are Pearly gates, Flying saucers, Wedding bells, Blue star, and Summer skies. Although Heavenly blue is the strongest variety it is widely available, while the other kinds are harder to come by. Comparing the seeds of the morning glory varieties Pearly Gates and Heavenly Blue with two varieties of Hawaiian Baby woodrose, the following yield of alkaloids (mg of alkaloid/g of seed material) has been found:

Butterflies are so beautiful, and it's all because of the tiny micro scales that are concaved at such specific angles to reflect the iridescence you see now. ~ I copied this butterfly using soft core colored pencils from my phone to some card paper which took 3 days of procrastination in total. ~ But I think it was well worth it :) What do you think?
