Jax Beer Merch
Description: Faithfully re-created logo of the famous JAX Beer. Jacksonville Brewing Company was established by William Ostner, a German immigrant to the United States who worked in the St. Louis, Missouri, brewing industry. After visiting Jacksonville, Florida, in 1909, he determined the city would be a good location for a new brewery. He founded the enterprise with assistance from his in-laws, the Schorr family of the Schorr-Kolkschneider Brewing Company, and his good friend Jacob Bongner. The partners broke ground on the brewery building on West 16th Street on June 9, 1913. It was the second brewery ever opened in the state, after Tampa's Florida Brewing Company.

Description: Jackson Brewing Company, or Jackson Brewery, was a regional brewery operating in New Orleans, from 1890 to 1974. One of two breweries selling Jax beer, along with Jacksonville's Jax Brewing Company, it was popularly known as the Jax Brewery. At its height, it was the largest brewery in the Southern United States. Its French Quarter building is now a historic landmark in New Orleans and houses restaurants, apartments, and entertainment venues. The brewery was founded by Lawrence Fabacher in 1890 as Jackson Bohemian Brewery; its name was later changed to Jax Beer and finally Jackson Brewing Company, after Andrew Jackson and Jackson Square.

The brewery was founded by Lawrence Fabacher in 1890 as Jackson Bohemian Brewery; its name was later changed to Jax Beer, and finally Jackson Brewing Company, after Andrew Jackson and Jackson Square. It soon grew to be a prominent regional brewery, and at its height, it was the largest brewery in the south, and was one of two New Orleans breweries to survive Prohibition. Its French Quarter brewery remains a landmark in New Orleans, as after brewing operations ceased, the facility was turned into a mixed use space containing residences, shops, and restaurants.
Description: Jackson Brewery, a New Orleans landmark, was once the brewing and bottling house of Jax Beer from 1890 until 1974. The building was purchased, renovated and turned into a place to shop and/or grab a bite to eat while taking in the views of the Mississippi River. There is, also, a museum devoted to the brewery which is free and open to the public. Composite work using two of my photographs, fireworks rendered black and white plus overlay of texture on the building. ©Debra Martz, All Rights Reserved 20210512-DSC_4745-Edit.tif
