Roberto Firpo (1884-1969) was an Argentine tango pianist, composer, and orchestra leader. He would have rather been a farmer, (or cattle rancher), but he went bankrupt when he tried it. So he had to continue to slog it our with his super-renowned orchestra...look at that face! One can just imagine him as an accidental 'rock-star' of his time. Firpo was among the first innovators of the classic tango music genre. He was the creator of the standard tango sextet, and the establisher of the piano in the tango orchestra. He was the first to play 'La Cumparsita'! For me, it's interesting that he's considered 'conservative' as an Orquesta leader.
