16th Aviation Company UH-1 Huey 12th Combat Aviation Group (Assault Helicopter) Army aviation in Vietnam was centered on the Assault Helicopter Company The company was assigned 20 UH-1D aircraft in two lift platoons. These were called "slicks" because they had less hanging on the side then the gunships. They were the workhorses, doing combat assaults, resupply, command and control and what ever else anyone could think of. D models were the first aircraft used as slicks, they were longer then previous models and had room on each side of the transmission housing for a doorgunner station. The aircraft had seating for 11 passengers and two pilots, but carrying troops with combat loads.

Specific security missions, involving approximately 83% of the military police/security guard resources of the battalion, included US Embassy, the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV).

The Seventh Army was inactivated in March 1946, in Germany, reactivated for a short time at Atlanta, Georgia, then inactivated again. It was reactivated by the United States European Command (EUCOM) with headquarters at Patch Barracks, Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany, on 24 November 1950 and assigned to command the ground and service forces of United States Army Europe (USAREUR). For over a decade contained the Seventh Army Symphony Orchestra founded by the conductor Samuel Adler in support of the United States Army's cultural diplomacy initiatives throughout Germany and Europe in the aftermath of World War II. On 30 November 1966, the Seventh Army was relocated from Patch Barracks to Heidelberg.

The squadron was first activated as the 772nd Bombardment Squadron during World War II. After training in the United States with Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers, it deployed to the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, where it participated in the strategic bombing campaign against Germany, earning two Distinguished Unit Citations before inactivating in Italy.

Alerted for movement in May 1965, the organization arrived in Vietnam on 12 August 1965. Its first assigned mission was to operate water terminals at Saigon, Nha Be, Cat Lai, Cam Ranh Bay, Vung Tau, Qui Nhon, Nha Trang, Phan Rang and other locations as directed. The Command was further charged to furnish direct motor transport in support of port and beach clearance, to support tactical requirements and to establish an Air Cargo terminal in Saigon. Initially, the Command had approximately 7,500 troops under its direction to accomplish these missions. Most U.S. Army divisional size units, some smaller units (both U.S. and Allied) and an estimated 70 percent of all supplies for United States and Allied forces in Vietnam have been landed here.

The 824th Bombardment Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was last assigned to the 484th Bombardment Wing at Turner Air Force Base, Georgia, where it was inactivated on 25 March 1967.

The 2-11 Arty arrived in Vietnam on 13 December 1966 and was initially assigned to II Field Forces and based at Dau Tieng. The battalion also served with Task Force Oregon and with the 23rd Artillery Group. In 1968 it was attached to the 101st Airborne Division. The 2-11 Arty participated in thirteen Vietnam campaigns receiving a Valorous Unit Award for Quang Ngai Province and two awards of the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. In 1967, the unit participated in Operations Cedar Falls and Junction City, earning the Meritorious Unit Commendation in the largest offensive operations in Vietnam to date.
