Bowler Hat Kids Hoodies

This delightful wee fellow is a true gentleman. He helps old lady squirrels cross the trees, and frequently donates to charities that aid victims of deforestation.

Kubrick has certainly been an influence on my visual sense, but this is the first time I've explored adapting one of his cinematic icons, based on the original book, A Clockwork Orange. The question I posed to myself is "What animal represents Alex best?" The cat was an obvious choice, both approachable yet an animal that can equally give no f**ks. It can be both worshiped and reviled, and so it fit. This particular image became a pun based on the line "Bit of the ultra violence."

I love René Magritte’s iconic surreal paintings and thought I would combine my versions of his imagery into a new pattern. I’ve always loved bowler hats too! Quintessentially British, but made iconic by a brilliant Belgian or two!

The Dead Rabbits were a notorious Irish-American gang that roamed the streets of old New York in a notorious slum known as the Five Points. It was a time when only the tough could survive. Personal grievances, business competition, and even political differences were often settled with fists. The Dead Rabbits’ nemesis would be a Nativist gang known as the Bowery Boys. Violence was golden as America struggled to define itself, but the struggle helped shape the character of the USA, and came to define the hard-working, hard-fighting, hard-drinking American immigrant.

Even for a Steampunk, the beauty and vastness of space is overwhelming.
