The tide was heading out as we shot sunset at Point Cartwright over the weekend, and sometimes the water seemed to be in quite a rush to get back to sea.

Ahh, how's the serenity? Point Cartwright was a great place to spend Sunday morning watching the sun come up as the beach slowly became busier with people starting their morning routines, whether that be walking the dog or doing yoga.

Everything turned a pastel hue just after this sunrise at Point Cartwright on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

When we worked our way around Hook Point on the southern tip of Fraser Island, headed towards the ferry back to the mainland, we found that the beach was not yet passable due to the high tide. Instead, we got to watch the ferry (in the distance to the right of the photo) as we fished, played ball, and took photos on the beach on a perfect summer's day. I think we were all pretty happy that we got stuck there -- it was the perfect way to end a great trip.

Happy Australia Day everyone! If you're here in Oz, I hope your day involves plenty of beach and BBQ time. This would have been the perfect way to start Australia Day, but since it's a bit rainy today I'm just looking back on my memories of Point Cartwright a few weeks ago.

The full moon rises over the walkway near the Gayundah shipwreck at Woody Point in Redcliffe (near Brisbane). It was an amazing sight to see as it was almost bloodred as it rose higher above Moreton Bay.

This wasn't the usual tree that people took photos off at Wellington Point, but we didn't have much choice once the tide came in...if we'd stayed out near "the tree" for much longer we would have ended up stranded! The glow in the background is from the Pinkenba/Brisbane Airport area.

Another beautiful sunset at Point Lookout State Park in Maryland.

The Slope Beach and Pier at Seaham Harbour. The slope is a sheltered sandy beach located between two piers at the harbour entrance. It was once an area where families visited and children learned to swim. Following refurbishment of the North Pier and the marina, it now attracts more visitors. The sunrises at low tide give some great images, as do the winter waves that pound the pier.
