I Just love how this turned out. It's amazing how little is needed in terms of imagery to make a complete piece of art, there's no torso or body, just a jacket, hands and crossed calves. Did you know sunflowers originated around 1000 BC in what's now known as Arizona & New Mexico, and were first cultivated as a food source? Then after discovering how to extract the oil for cooking, also used it ofr skin and hair, and the stalk would often be used as a building material. Well, now you do!

I made this as a part of a series to protest the overturning of Roe v Wade and the utter bullshit backwards ass pushes to take away every possible means of agency for women.

The Old City Hall is located In the heart of Toronto’s financial district. Each day thousands of people pass this magnificent building. The reverberating sound of its bells in the clock tower has rung out across the downtown for over a century. Today, the building bustles with more activity than at any time in its history, as it contains numerous law courts. Please refer to my previous images of Old City Hall for more info. This is an image of one of the few remaining gargoyles adorning the clock tower. The gargoyles on the tower were removed several decades ago as they were falling to the street below. One of them crashed through the roof of the Old City Hall. They have now been replaced by bronze gargoyles. Hope you like this....

Always has fascinated me that, if you trace back the DNA in the maternally inherited mitochondria within our cells, all humans have a theoretical common ancestors, Mitochondrial Eve. She wasn't the first human but every other female lineage eventually had no female offspring, failing to pass on their mitochondrial DNA so all humans today can trace their mitochondrial DNA back to her. Within her DNA and that of her peers, existed all the genetic variation we see in contemporary humans which is mad. Also DYK Lupita Nyong'o carries the DNA from the oldest maternal haplogroup also known as Mitochondrial Eve?
