It was pretty much impossible to get photos of The Louvre on a mild spring day without lots of people in them, but I tried a few without too much interrupting traffic. Nights were better. I like the splash of the fountain in this shot. I made several trips to The Louvre during a short trip because the architecture & history of this place inspired me. Canon 400D. Paris, France. The view of the Louvre Palace as seen from the Tuileries Gardens in Paris. The Musée du Louvre is the world's largest art museum and is situated on the right bank of the River Seine. It started life as a castle which was demolished in 1546 to build the palace - the residence of French kings until the eventual move to Versailles. It became a museum in 1793 during the French Revolution to display the country's artistic masterpieces. In keeping, this image has been given a pencil drawing finish.

Le Louvre des Antiquaires is a historic structure in Paris located on the Place du Palais-Royal. The building was originally constructed in 1855 as a hotel, the Grand Hôtel du Louvre. The enormous building was gradually converted to a department store, with the hotel finally closing in 1887. The department store, Grands Magasins du Louvre, operated until 1974. The building was then converted to an antiques mall, Le Louvre des Antiquaires. That business closed in 2015, and the building is currently being converted to a luxury shopping mall, set to open in 2020. Jawdropping architectural genius at the Louvre, Paris. This photo was taken on my first day of discovering Paris. The Louvre & Notre Dame were just 7 minutes walk from my apartment. At this stage I'd had about 11 hours sleep over the previous 3 days & was running on adrenalin & excitement at seeing these international icons. This is just one small part of the Louvre. There are arches were traffic runs under sections of the buildings & out again. I took a video with my Iphone to get a better idea of the expanse of these grand constructions.
