Although one would have thought that the description would indicate the colour of the rock… once you get down there and into the archway… you will soon realise that it is far from black and more martian like red from the formation of precambrian rock strata comprising both igneous and metamorphic rock structures including quartzite, chlorite schist, and greywhacke with some feldspar and mica present… Depending on the light and the angle of incidence, looking into Bwa Du is like being a kid in a candy store… Its just a myriad of different colours and textures… Glistening greens on the upper reaches, from chlorite schist, greys from greywhacke and shiny rustic reds from iron oxide laden metamorphic quartzite.
