Comayagua is a colonial city in Honduras, some 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Tegucigalpa and sits at an elevation of about 1,950 feet above sea level. It is the capital of the Comayagua Department of Honduras. The city is noted for its wealth of Spanish Colonial architecture, and has become a national and international draw for tourism. It is on the list of The 30 Wonders of Honduras. Each week Comayagua receives almost 200 travelers interested in its colonial heritage. The central square has a cathedral with the oldest clock in the Americas. Its population is estimated at about 152,000 people.
