Purple Allium Flowers

The flower of the Allium Giganteum (Giant Allium or Giant Onion), the tallest ornamental allium in common cultivation - a perennial bulb which produces a single 12-16cm flower cluster

A bumblebee is in full work mode - you can see the yellow pollen on its rump. The flower is called an ornamental onion (in German: Zierlauch or Kugellauch), I love the blue color. I took this photograph right next to some train tracks while waiting in the warm summer sun for my next train home - it was a beautiful sight that I wanted to catch on camera for others to enjoy.
