Art by Duy Troung........ Book is nearly complete and we think Duy has come up with a beautiful cover......This is the sixth book in the illustrated historical series, The Wurtherington Diary. This is a stand-a-lone story and is part one of the real-life adventures of Tammy and Buffalo Bill Cody. Of course she is in good company with Alfred the mouse, Zeke the orphaned opossum, Cedric, the mischievous mongoose, and Polly, the good-hearted bird. This part of Tammy's diary takes place 1855-1861 during the days of the Pony Express. As with all the Wurtherington Diary books, this one abounds in developing worthwhile feelings for its young readers. Things like honesty, compassion, and respect for others abound on very page.

Art by Duy Truong,.....Lucinda is a magical princess who transcends time and space. We see her in this dynamic scene from Buffalo Bill and the Pony Express. There has been so much interest in this scene we offer it cropped in a way that features Lucinda as never before........ Offered up to spectacular 5 foot width. A translucent shimmering wave rolled down the side of the mountain while the very Earth began to rumble. Everyone shouted, "Run for your lives!" and scurried every which way. Alfred said, "What do you make of it, Lucinda?" Lucinda said, "I have never seen anything like it. For now, find something to hold on to as we do not want to be blown away." The blinding storm was upon us before we could gather our wits. I clutched ...

Art by Duy Truong......... The passengers jumped out of the stage and gathered 'round. As you may imagine they were astonished and grateful for our deeds. The driver and guard shook our hands and we quickly became acquainted. We decided to tie the bandits to their horses and turn them over to the law in Lexington. Cedric, Zeke, and Polly flew alongside to make sure nothing went wrong. Alfred and I hopped aboard the stage with the passengers.

Art by our favorite gal, Duy Truong,.......This is our first piece of art in our new book.. Soon, we decided to take a break from the story and walked up and down River Street. A young man was tacking up posters. We gathered around as he affixed one to the wall of the watch shop. Zeke wondered, "What does it say?" The young man said, "You are all invited to Buffalo Bill's Wild West. It is a show all about cowboys and Indians." Cedric's eyes lit up, "Is this the Buffalo Bill that is in a book?" "Oh yes!" said the young man. "I am in the show and Buffalo Bill is an amazing man." He handed Zeke a handbill. I inquired, "Are there Indians in the show?" He said, "All the real Indians are long gone, mum; however we all dress up like I...

Art by Duy Truong,................ The time: 1861 the year of the Pony Express where Indians controlled the lands and Express Riders carried a gun, a Bible and a mochilla filled with precious mail....................... Standing Buffalo whispered, "Wolf Pack—it is a Shoshone hunting party that runs with a white man they call Wolf Pack." Cody told all of us to be quiet while the braves looked at the tracks we had left in the road. They gave it little thought and began to ride off. Unfortunately a rattler decided we had invaded its home and moved threateningly in our direction. Powder Face whinnied at the sound of the rattler and gave away our position. "Move higher into the hillside," said Cody while the braves moved straight for us. Th...

Here is the legendary William F. Cody at the age of 14 when he joined the Pony Express. ...............................Deke said, "Our horses are the very fastest the world has ever known. If anyone here is running their route and sees unfriendly Indians, your official duty is to run like the devil. That is your best defense. You have been given a gun and a Bible. I would say it is best to pray and run. Shoot only if you must." Cody said, "That is good advice, Deke." Clint brought out a fre...

Art by Duy Truong................................................I said, "FOLLOW ME!" Polly and I raced for the vortex that became larger with each passing moment. All of the bees followed behind at a furious pace. We flew higher and higher and then into the center of the vortex. There was a great flash of light and suddenly we were flying over Kira. I looked behind and saw the passengers of time and space passing through the vortex. I said a little prayer of thanks that all had gone well.

Art from Buffalo Bill and the Pony Express: ( The Wurtherington Diary #6) Art by Duy Truong.......... We were ushered to the palace garden that rested alongside the shimmering blue waters of Lake Kira. It was a cool, clear morn with a slight breeze that drifted ever so gently across the waters. A distant range of snow-capped mountaintops undulated and swelled like a line of long lost fairytale sandcastles. Princess Catherine ( the queen of the bees) gave us a warm welcome. No longer did she look at all like a bee. Her hair was now a golden honey that glistened spectacularly in the sunlight. She explained that she had important business with the bees to attend to after our meeting. "They are my little darlings. Not a day goes by witho...

Art by Duy Truong.........................This is a dreamier version of the final scene from Buffalo Bill and the Pony Express,......She sent us home and we were soon enjoying the comforts of my bedroom and a goodnight's rest in our own beds. I read another chapter from Buffalo Bill, The King of the Border Men to Zeke, Cedric, and Polly. As I tucked them in, I asked if they had learned anything from our adventure with the Pony Express and Buffalo Bill.

Soldier bees came forward and marched all of us deep within the hives. We entered a hive that was much larger than the others and we could see the queen before us. She was surrounded by attendants that were all determined that no harm come to her. I stood before them while several attendants brought forth their "feelers," ( I do not know what to call them) and they examined me from top to bottom. They made it clear that the others were not to step forward. That was an honor reserved for me. One attendant ushered me before the queen. She was not at all what I had anticipated. She descended a spiral staircase and appeared to be very much a human. She spoke in perfect English, "What is the message you bear?

Art by Duy Truong,........In this scene, Zeke must convince the Station Master that he can ride with the best of them.......... He eyed Zeke from head to toe. "You look scrawny enough to me. You are the scrawniest of the bunch. How do you shoot?" Zeke said, "I don't use a gun. I have a slingshot, a rope, and then a cast iron skillet. That's all I need." I said, "Let him show you what he can do." "Go ahead, kind sir," said Deke, "show us what you can do." It was apparent that he was skeptical from the look on his face. Zeke found a pinto and galloped around the yard while he performed all sorts of trick riding stunts: jumping around on both sides to the ground and back, standing on the pinto's head, and various acrobatics that includ...

Art by Duy Truong......We have several variations on this...............Tammy decides to act as a decoy for Buffalo Bill so he may deliver the Pony Express mochilla on time......................... Arrows began flying straight for us from all directions. Zeke and Cedric shot back with their slingshots as we race by. Alfred said, "Those are the tiniest arrows I have ever seen!" I looked at the arrows that were landing all about the road and could see that he was right. "We have seen arrows like this in Kira. The Kakuna tribe had tiny arrows like this!" I looked closely at the Indians and I could see we had found the missing tribe that had been swept away. Cedric pulled an arrow out of his hat. He said, "They are our friends!"

Art by Duy Truong,.......Alfred, Zeke, Polly, and I rode with White Feather to the station. We gathered arrows that were all about. Alfred wondered, "What about this one?" and handed it to White Feather. I handed him one I pulled from a charred post. He said, "None of these were made by an Indian. They are the work of whites." He pointed to the pony tracks. "See these tracks. They are made to look like unshod ponies. White men bind the hooves in leather to make it look like unshod Indian ponies." Zeke wondered, "What do you think they are up to?" White Feather said, "No good. They want it to look like Indians." Alfred said, "From what I saw in town, it would be a good way to start an Indian war." I said, "These arrows are the e...

Art by Duy Truong.................This is our first drawing in book seven of our Wurtherington Diary Series." Buffalo Bill and the Indians." Mark said he wanted to show me some magic tricks. I met him in his bedroom where he had it all set up. Of course I brought Cedric, Zeke, and Polly with me. He had a little stage set up and a banner that read, Mark the Magnificent. We all took a seat and he was quite amazing with the illusions. He was very insistent that he be called an illusionist which is a step up from being a magician. He did card tricks, mind reading, and then escaped from a pair of handcuffs. He saved his best trick for last when he disappeared in a puff of smoke and then walked in behind us through the door!

Art by Duy Truong..........................As we approached the village I could see the tribe was fighting a furious battle with the bees. Some were using catapults to launch boulders at the invading bees while others shot giant flaming arrows. They had constructed elaborate weapons and fortifications that indicated this war had been in progress for a very long time. The giant bees dived over and over swooping down upon the villagers. Others dropped rocks upon the houses turning the village into a shambles.
