Once painted white, here a fading red, the Racine Breakwater light has been in this location since 1924.

Now privately owned and operated as an art studio, the current Kenosha North Pier light, or Pierhead Lighthouse, has been described as "a typical Lake Michigan red tower," and is a near twin to the Milwaukee Pierhead Light.

The North Point Light Station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin was built in 1887 to replace 32 year old lighthouse which was built too close to the eroding bluff. The Queen Anne style keeper's quarters were built at the same time.

This blue fire hydrant is in the greater Chicagoland area and in this case I believe the blue indicates that the water comes from a natural source nearby like a pond or river.

The smallest of Maryland's eight remaining covered bridges, this is the Roddy Road Covered Bridge and it spans 40 feet of Owens Creek.

Digital Art from my watercolor batik painting of a Viceroy Butterfly on Queen Anne's Lace, black and white and orange image. Several years ago, I painted this Viceroy butterfly from a reference photo (see below) as one of a series that I used in a calendar. Using Photoshop, I converted the color painting (elsewhere on my gallery) to a black and white image and allowed the butterfly to retain her brilliant, deep, orange reds. I found this photo on a reference photo site called pmp-art.com. The photographer is Jennifer Livick, and her beautiful photo can be seen here: https://pmp-art.com/jennifer-livick/gallery/27401/viceroy-img_1034a#gallery_img I centered the butterfly in my painting and added another QAL flower on the left.

A selective-colour HDR image of a derelict and fire-damaged former Golden Lion pub, close to the River Wear at South Hylton, near to Sunderland (UK)

This image features gorgeous but spiky blue alpine sea holly, also known as Eryngium alpinum and Queen of the Alps. This image is an original photo that's been desaturated for the selective color blue (sort of a periwinkle purplish blue). This process makes the blue stand out and the rest appear monochromatic, almost in black and white. This was taken in a lovely botanical garden where the colors were and shapes were stunning in the late afternoon light.
