The Denver Spurs were a professional ice hockey team based out of Denver, Colorado. The Spurs began play in the Western Hockey League in 1968, and played at the Denver Coliseum. The Spurs became the first professional sports team in Colorado to win a championship in 1971–72. After the WHL folded in 1974, the team transferred to the Central Hockey League for the 1974–75 season.

Founded in November 1971, the Fighting Saints played four seasons beginning in 1972–73. The Fighting Saints' last game was played February 25, 1976 at the Civic Center, that is until the team was reborn in 1976 and played another successful season.

The Rockets played in the Pacific Coast Hockey League from 1946 to 1952, before becoming a member of the Western Hockey League for a single final season from 1952 to 1953. They played their home games in the Tacoma Ice Palace.

Intended to be the WHA's flagship franchise, its short lifespan was a result of being unable to compete with the National Hockey League's established New York Rangers, and the expansion New York Islanders. After its inaugural season, the team was known as the New York Golden Blades and eventually relocated to Cherry Hill, New Jersey, becoming the Jersey Knights.

The Spokane Comets were a minor professional ice hockey team that was located in Spokane, Washington. They played in the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 1958 to 1963. In June 1963 the Spokane franchise was purchased by a group led by the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League which relocated them to become the Denver Invaders and act as their farm team. Spokane quickly generated the Spokane Jets, which commenced play in the Western International Hockey League in the 1963–64 WIHL season.

The Calgary Broncos were an original World Hockey Association franchise founded November 1, 1971. In the first WHA draft, the Broncos chose Barry Gibbs, Jim Harrison, Dale Hoganson and Jack Norris. The team relocated prior to the start of the first WHA season when team owner Bob Brownridge died. They moved to Ohio, becoming the Cleveland Crusaders.

The Green Bay Bobcats were a Semi-Professional hockey team based in Green Bay, WI playing in the United States Hockey League from 1961 to 1979. The team played in the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena. They won the USHL title in 1962-63 and 1971-72. In 1979 the USHL changed to a Junior league from a pro circuit. The Bobcats remained in the league for two more seasons before folding.
