Inspired by Frank Capra's dark comedy, the Arsenic and Old Lace Design features Cary Grant in his leading role as Mortimer Brewster. Adapted from the stage play by Joseph Kesselring, the film also featured Raymond Massey, Priscilla Lane and Peter Lorre.

Black and white Queen Anne Lace botanical drawing.

With the mid-19th century invention of paper patterns, women could now cut out the pieces of the latest fashions and sew them at home. Even today, many people enjoy using patterns to make their own clothing. Here we see a store selling sewing notions including thread, lace and patterns. There is even a pince nez for those who need help with the tiny stitches.

My grandmother never sat still for a moment. If she had time to to rest her feet, her hands were moving, creating the beautiful lacework for curtains, table runners, handkerchief edges, collars and other items that we took for granted as children. I still have some of those pieces and marvel at the tiny stitches that turned into intricate patterns.

Bolin Lace like graphics using Black ink and Gold Leaf and Copper Leaf Finishes. Bobbin lace is a lace textile made by braiding and twisting lengths of thread, which are wound on bobbins to manage them. As the work progresses, the weaving is held in place with pins set in a lace pillow, the placement of the pins usually determined by a pattern or pricking pinned on the pillow.
