The sea and the sun were just so smouldery tonight that at last light I just felt like I had to get out there and be creative... so this is the product of my evening...

A good friend in Brunei asked me to try capture a shot of Caernarfon Castle in Wales... I think this is it... Wales, where mountains and Castles meet the sea.

In support of the national health service NHS and the good work they do, a set up of colourful lights representing the rainbow of support which means that 'everyone is equal - and deserves to be treated with compassion and respect' was displayed against the Caernarfon Castle... At sunset, late in the evening - I took this capture.

During the balmy May weather I spend a few late evenings down by the old slate quay looking out across the estuary for the right time to take a colourful water and colour reflection shot... I used vintage glass shot wide open at f/2.0 producing quite a narrow depth of field but maximum light through aperture and with full frame camera focus peaking and focus magnifier to focus as best as can for the Jupiter lens I was using at such shallow depth of field... In doing so producing a softer more subtle - less stark effect to this silhouette of the Caernarfon Castle and surrounding boats... I imagine this framed on archival type watercolour paper for best effect... Something I will endeavour to do over time for my home... :-)

After some consideration I've decided to include this in my RB portfolio... Understanding technologies well and what cameras and ancillary equipment should be able to do - I decided to take this image with a good quality lens and full frame format camera but using a cheap variable graduated filter from ebay. I've included it as I will make the comparison when I have further funds to be able to purchase same filter but by a reputable brand. Further to this it would be interesting to see how improvements could be made with advancements in processor technology of further models within the brand of camera I use and full frame format Pentax... but I will have to win the lottery to consider this! o.O :D Alternatively - make a sale on...

Caernarfon Castle (Welsh: Castell Caernarfon) – anglicized as Carnarvon Castle or Caernarvon Castle, is a medieval fortress in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, north-west Wales. It was a motte-and-bailey castle in the town of Caernarfon from the late 11th century until 1283 when King Edward I of England began replacing it with the current stone structure. The Edwardian town and castle acted as the administrative centre of north Wales and as a result the defences were built on a grand scale.

Caernarfon Castle - Gwynedd Dotwork

Using filtration technique and long exposure ~ I think I timed this just nicely. Always a wonderful setting... Caernarfon Castle is a spectacle to behold on most good days... and today was superb light ! Unfortunately, the duration of capture... didn't find the swans 'completely crisp' and there's some movement in the picture... but there you are... "You don't always get it all..!!!"

A long exposure in bulb mode was used to create this mirror like seascape image of the Caernarfon Castle using IRND neutral density filters. Post processed in lightroom.

Very lucky to live in a place with such magnificent views of the Caernarfon Castle and to be situated in an area in which I can be having a drink and think about the sunset ~ and watch it unfolding... Sunsets like these are quite common from where I'm situated and if we keep adding nitrous oxide into the atmosphere - they will be sunsets set to be - more often! We must get a handle on things - but for the time-being at least, I've come back to be in Wales and this is my nirvana. Caernarfon, my town, my home. Iechyd dda Gymru..! Good Health Wales..! In times like these - we certainly 'need these well-wishes' :-)

Originality is hard to find these days... Everyone is doing same! I created this in memory and respect of the Moon - which has recently been further investigated for potential habitation and colonisation by China by recently attempting to grow seeds which sprouted within an enclosed capsule on the moon... "Covio waed yr lleuad" ~ or in English, 'Remember the blood of the moon" ~ is a first as a 'conservation extraterrestrial piece' - which reflects on Planet Earth here and the lunar landscape there... and a message for our careful consideration of protecting Planet A AND Planet B... ad infinitum...!!! :-O The blood moon will occur again tonight... As the water rises and the sun-sets across the Caernarfon Castle - I caught the glimmer and reflections of the water across the estuary... the movement across the water a sinusoidal shape...

A quick capture of the last moments of sun setting this evening reveals striations across the horizon ~ which indicate pollutant and particulates from the continued excessive use of fossil fuels - accentuated by the hottest day of the year - so far...

A neighbour said his wife loves owls... I took this image last summer... not known what to do with it ~ as its just been sat on my hard-drive doing nothing... so here it is and see what it produces!? I've been out and about but its certainly 'No Hoot' trying to photograph wild owls and there is restrictive permits to be able to do so - with 'some species' being protected... still, its nice to hear them every so often!
