MYTHOLOGICAL BEAST TURNED PUNK TRIO.

A grotesque fusion of various creatures, like a lion, a goat, and a serpent.

I've always found inspiration in mythology of all kinds, and I really enjoy taking classic images and re-imagining them as a stylized modern icon. The anatomical tribal line work was arrived at by stream of consciousness doodling.

The Chimera according to Greek mythology, was a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of more than one animal. It is usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat protruding from its back, and a tail that might end with a snake's head

Gargoyles, in architecture, are drains, that is, they are the protruding part of the roof gutters that are intended to drain rainwater at a certain distance from the wall and which, especially in the Middle Ages, were decorated with monstrous figures, human or animal, commonly present in Gothic architecture. It is believed that gargoyles were placed in Medieval Cathedrals to indicate that the devil never slept, requiring continued surveillance of people, even in holy places.

The chimera of legend was a three-headed beast that supposedly desecrated the countryside of Lycia in Anatolia, now modern day turkey. It was a fire-breathing creature with the body and head of a lion, a goat's head rising from its back, the udders of a goat, and a serpent for a tail. A horrible monstrosity to gaze upon. The hero Bellerophon, one of the first great Greek heroes of legend, before the times of Jason and the mighty Hercules, was commanded by King Iobates to slay the beast. Since the beast lived high upon the mountains reaching him without flying was impossible. Luckily Bellerophon had an ace up his sleeve, the incredible Pegasus. Our hero rode to the top of the mountain upon his trusty friend and won the day as you can too.
