Luxurious Marble I

A canalside scene at Shipton-on-Cherwell in Oxfordshire, England. The Oxford canal here is overlooked by the parish church of Holy Cross. The church and village predate the canal by several centuries - the River Cherwell being the only waterway then! There has been a church here since the C12th but after a number of additions it was demolished in 1831 and the present Gothic Revival one built. The canal arrived in 1788, built to link the Midland canals with the Thames at Oxford and thence to London. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

The parish church of St Lawrence at Hungerford in Berkshire, England. The church stands slightly to the west of the town alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal. It was rebuilt in 1814 in the Regency Gothic style and was faced with Bath stone which was brought along the canal. A little later, in mid-Victorian times it was further renovated. The canal was constructed between 1794 and 1810 to link Bristol with London via Reading. Abandoned in the early 1900s, it was renovated and reopened in 1990.

Stirling Castle is a beautiful castle not far from Edinburgh which is a famous tourist stop

The Sacred Heart Basilica is located in the Forest Hill section of Newark, New Jeresey. Groundbeaking began in January 1898. The church was finally dedicated on October 19, 1954. In 1995 Pope John Paul II celebrated evening prayers, and the cathedral was elevated to a basilica. Concerts are held in the Basilica throughout the year. The church has the largest pipe organ ever built by Schantz Organ Company.
