I've been in a bit of a synthwave/retro vibe lately (again lol) and doodled this up initially during downtime at work, then scanned it/took a pic of it and finished it on my phone. Pose partially inspired by The Fonz, and partially from a pic taken of Lawrence at a gala a couple years back. Done in about 8 hours total (double that if you count the art app crashing and having to re-start almost at square one with the colouring/painting *whew*) (I may also now have to do the rest of the Styx in this style lol and possibly one for myself lmaol) Art (c) Illia St. Onge 2018

Decided to update a Gowan painting I did back in 2018 that I still really like (bg is from a royalty free resource)

A logo design for Organo that's based on Gowan's logo's typography from his Strange Animal album onwards.

"They Tried To Reform Me...." Decided to render up a graphic thing based on the sign alluded to in the beginning of the video - and now also graphic novel - for "A Criminal Mind" by Gowan Found what font was used originally by putting a screenshot of the plaque through a font identification app, then it grew from there... Used both realism and comic book elements in this (realistic shading on the typography and comic-book-esque linework for the rest) Linework and typography rendering done on my laptop, colourization and other elements finished on my phone - both in Autodesk sketchbook . Colors end up being more vivid on my phone anyways.

Referenced this one from a black and white Gowan photo from cir. 1985 (I think?), and decided to colorize it and put my own stylization to it. This was also kind of an experiment on doing one layer in greyscale for values, making it the "overlay" layer, then doing blocked-in colours for the colourizing layer underneath. A concept for a (promo?) poster that was floating around in my head, inspired by Gowan in his new Criminal Mind Costume that he rolled out during his recent solo tour. I'm also trying to go for the 'animated movie poster' style for the colours on this - think any of Don Bluth's film's posters or even a more obscure one like Nelvana's "Rock & Rule"(where the other main inspiration spark came from for this!) This was supposed to be a quick practice/study with digital airbrushes, with ref from a photo, but I immersed myself in it, so it quickly turned into an actual full-blown painting lol. [Recycled an old background for this to make things a bit easier lol] Tbh, it turned out better than my usual 'hard-brush-then-blending-tool' method. The soft edge of the digital airbrush makes for a smoother transition from light to dark (and vice versa). Done on my phone in about 6 hours total.
