An early morning view across Llyn (Lake) Nantlle in Snowdonia on a perfectly calm day with the water looking like glass and mountains looking ethereal in the distance.

As I sat from the viewing point from across the lake on a perfectly still, well lit day, I composed this image with a reflection shot in mind. It wasn't as vivid as this, but through using lightroom and photoshop... improvements were made. I hope you like it..!

Working with tone and grain - I wanted to capture the essence of a beautiful summer morning across the Llanberis lake "Llyn Padarn" towards Dolbadarn Castle and the Snowdonia Mountains.

It was a warm summer's evening when I walked up to Llyn y Fan Fawr, then climbed the path to Fan Brycheiniog before walking the ridge to overlook Llyn y Fan Fach. I waited at this spot in the somewhat strong wind for sunset. I shot a series of photos to create this panorama, holding the tripod down for each frame so the wind didn't blur the photo. Once the sun had set, I walked back as quickly as I could and managed to get back to the car within the hour of light you get after the sun has gone down.

I took a handful of images of these paddlers both coming towards me and turning back on the lake - just two images - I liked the look of for the balance of the image and their combined movements in the water. Working in full frame with a full frame lens and shooting manually - I set up beforehand to capture this stunning vista - so well known in the Snowdonia mountains here in Wales... In post allowed me to better adjust the fine tuning of light and shadow and for the first time ever - I stumbled upon the magnifier key on my keyboard to check the focus detail of the background and foreground with the two paddlers! Having said that, the conditions and lighting was just perfect, and magically, the swans did their 'seven swans are swimming' dance for me this morning ~ composed just beautifully... but I think I can count 8
