Palmistry or Chiromancy is the practice of reading the a person's character or future through ones palms. The practice is ancient and found all over the world. In the middle ages, the practice of Palmistry was suppressed by the Catholic Church who considered it a pagan superstition, it later had a revival in the 1800's. Characteristics such as the shape of the hand, lines, intersecting lines, mounds and more are interpreted. The heart, head, and life line are often given the most weight by Palmists. Generally Palmists read the persons dominant hand, which is considered to represent the conscious mind, while the other hand is considered to represent the subconscious mind.
