Description: Founded in 1968, Redd’s Board Shop was the ‘locals only’ spot for surf boards for decades. Set away from La Jolla’s tourists and out-of-towners, Redd’s was an open secret and alternative to the bigger name shops. Stocking all the brand name boards and gear, Redd’s also offered their own line of boards, handling everything in-house, including shaping to spec. Redd closed up shop some time in the ’90s, but you can still find some of his big sticks tearing it up at Black’s Beach and Windansea.
