Thames Path Long Sleeve T-Shirts

A digital art view of the Thames Path as it wends its way towards the village of Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. The Thames Path is a national long distance trail 184 miles (296 km) long which starts at Kemble in Gloucestershre near one of the attributed sources at Thames Head (the other being Seven Springs). It finishes at the Thames Barrier flood defence in London. Here it passes through the Goring Gap - a narrow space between the North Wessex (Berkshire) Downs and the Chiltern Hills.

An impressionistic view of the Thames as it flows past Remenham in Berkshire, very near Henley-on-Thames. Having crossed the river at Henley we are now on the Berkshire bank walking along the Thames Path - a long distance footpath. Just ahead is Temple Island - the start of the Henley Royal Regatta course which is 1 mile 550 yards long, finishing just downstream of Henley Bridge. A digital art image of The Thames Path at Reading Bridge connecting the town of Reading in Berkshire with Caversham on the north bank of the River Thames. Originally there was just one bridge, Caversham Bridge, just further upstream but as the main town absorbed the village of Caversham in the early 1900s, a new bridge was deemed necessary and this structure was finally opened in 1923.

This area is a favourite of artists with canvas and/or camera - including the great JMW Turner. A boat moored on the bank of the River Thames not far from Wallingford in Oxfordshire. Here we are walking along the Thames Path National Trail between Wallingford and Benson. A lovely stretch of the Thames with trees crowded along the banks but with the occasional gap allowing for nice, peaceful moorings. To our left the towpath takes us to the quaint market town of Wallingford with its many independent shops - and a frequent setting for Midsomer Murders!

A variety of boats are found here - launches, racing boats, canoes, kayaks - and sailing boats. Seen on a bright summer day on a walk along the Thames Path National Trail which stretches from Cricklade in the Cotswolds to the Thames Barrier.

Looking across the River Thames - invisible here behind the thick growth of riverside plants - to the town of Lechlade in Gloucestershire. This is a picturesque market town at the southernmost edge of the Cotswolds, close to the Oxfordshire border. Behind the Riverside pub and restaurant can be seen the spire of the parish church of St Lawrence - a local landmark. The Thames Path starts close by, near to the town of Cricklade and continues all the way to the Thames Barrier in London.

Walking along the Thames Path, a designated long distance National trail. This scene is at Lechlade on the section of the path between Halfpenny Bridge and St John's Lock the first (or last) on the Thames. Here moored boats are visited by inquisitive cattle! Lechlade, a picturesque market town at the southern end of the Cotswolds marks the highest navigable pont on the river. Above here it soon becomes narrower and shallower - no place for river boats!!

This lovely old boat is almost a floating garden with containers of plants on the deck! The image was captured on a walk along the Thames Path just above Henley. Across the river is the Berkshire bank of the river. After a sunny day it's now clouding over!

A view form the bridge at Goring on Thames, Oxfordshire, England. The church of St Thomas of Canterbury, dating from the 1100s, lies behind the mill and the millpond which feeds back into the river. Goring, in South Oxfordshire is on the north bank of the Thames directly opposite the smaller village of Streatley on Thames in Berkshire on the south bank. Here the river flows through an opening between the Chiltern Hills in the north and the North Wessex Downs in the south, known as the Goring Gap.

Cookham, on the banks of the Thames is a village lying in the furthest north-east corner of Berkshire, England. Here the artist Sir Stanley Spencer lived and set many of his paintings. Seen from the Thames path between Marlow and Henley-on-Thames, the church of All Saints in the riverside village of Bisham in Berkshire, just upstream of the National Sports Centre. The Grade 2 listed church dates from the 12th century, the oldest remaining part being the tower. A digital drawing from my original photograph.

The scene just below Halfpenny Bridge in Lechlade, Gloucestershire. Here the Thames Path National Trail can clearly be seen as it wends its way towards London. This bridge marks the start of the navigable Thames as above this it becomes increasingly narrower and shallower. The bridge dates from 1792 and gets its name from the halpenny toll for pedestrians which lasted until 1839. It is now a Grade 2 listed building. Lechlade is a picturesque market town close to the Oxfordshire border

It's a late afternoon in August and the low sun lights up the scene just below the lock and weir. Here the Thames is passing through the Goring Gap - an opening between the Chiltern Hills and the North Wessex (Berkshire) Downs - before flowing past Pangbourne and Reading en route to London and the sea. Not surprisingly this area has been a haunt for artists - including JMW Turner!

A digital art image of the bridge over the river at Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. This is actually half of the bridge as a second identical length crosses the river to the Berkshire bank at Streatley-on-Thames. This is the view from the Thames Path National Trail which starts life at Cricklade in Gloucestershire and finishes at the Thames Barrier in London. This particular bridge was constructed in 1923. A previous toll bridge which dated from 1837 in turn replaced a ferry.

Viewed from the Thames Path long-distance trail - the bridge over the Thames at Goring. This bridge, carrying the B4009 road connects the two villages of Streatley in Berkshire with Goring in Oxfordshire. The present bridge was built in 1923 and replaced an earlier one dating from 1837 which was constructed of timber. This also forms the river crossing section of both the Ridgeway and the Thames Path. Just upstream here can be seen Goring Lock.

The lane next to the watermill at Goring on Thames leading over the mill race which plunges under the mill, then on to pass under the road bridge to the lock. Turn left at the bridge to follow the Thames Path to Pangbourne. The mill features in a painting by JMW Turner. The toll bridge at Whitchurch on Thames, spanning the river between Pangbourne in Berkshire and Whitchurch in Oxfordshire, England. There has been a bridge here since 1792, the present iron one, constructed in 1902 being the third. It is one of the few remaining toll bridges on the River Thames. From October 2013 until September 2014 the bridge was closed to traffic in order that it could be completely dismantled and refurbished. Nikon D7000

On the island to the right stands the white painted lock keeper's cottage, conveniently situated between the lock and weir. Here the Thames flows between the North Wessex or Berkshire Downs to the south and the Chiltern Hills to the north. This feature is known as the Goring Gap. This lovely old market town is about six miles south of Oxford, the river from here making its way towards Wallingford and Reading. St Helen's parish church lies next to the river. Dating from the early C12th, it is notable for being the second widest church in England and having five aisles!

The church of St Nicholas at Remenham in Berkshire. This picturesque church and the suirrounding houses of the village sit close to the banks of the River Thames.The Thames Path (a long distamce trail) passes close by. Remenham is also close to the start of the Henley Royal Regatta course at Temple Island. The church is Norman in origin and records exist of the first rector in 1076. It also received a mention in the Domesday Book (1086). However, the building as we see it dates from 1870.

A view of Marlow on Thames in Buckinghamshire looking downstream towards the suspension bridge. This bridge, opened in 1832 and designed by by William Tierney Clark links Buckinghamshire with Berkshire on the south bank. It is also the model for the Szechenyl Chain Bridge over the River Danube in Budapest. To the left is the parish church of All Saints which dates from 1835 and replaced a 12th century building which had been demolished. This stretch of the Thames is famous for rowing.

A digital art view of a riverside scene at Cookham in Berkshire. The late winter sunshine warms up the scene with a family feeding swans under the gold of a willow tree. Cookham, a Thames beauty spot was also home to the artist Sir Stanley Spencer who could be seen wheeling a pram laden with his paining materials round the village and riverside - the inspiration for much of his work. He is buried in the local churchyard.

Standing on the banks of the River Thames at Eton and looking across to the town of Windsor with its historic royal castle dominating the skyline. There has been a castle here since the time of William I and it started its life as a royal residence in the early 1100s uder Henry 1. The river has always played an important part in Windsor's life, having been the main route to London until roads eventually improved. Looking south across the River Thames from the Buckinghamshire bank to the parish church of All Saints at Bisham in Berkshire, England. The church dates from the 12th century, the squat Norman tower being built around 1175. The buildings were extended over the following years, particularly by the Hoby family who lived in nearby Bisham Abbey. Walking along the Thames Path between Marlow and Henley on Thames, the buildings of both the church and abbey can be seen only a short distance from Marlow.

A fine Edwardian house sitting on the banks of the River Thames at Caversham, Reading. Here it is seen from the Thameside Promenade, part of the Thames Path National Trail. Here the thames is often busy with leisure boating traffic - launches, rowing boats and canoes. This house and others like it along the riverbanks of course have their own boathouses - perhaps as part of the building as here!

The River Thames as it flows past the village of Pangbourne in Berkshire, England. This view, captured on an evening in late summer, looks towards the Whitchurch toll bridge which joins Oxfordshire and Berkshire. The river here was immortalised by Kenneth Graham in his book 'The Wind In The Willows'. This stretch of river is often alive with canoes and kayaks from the adjacent activity centre and above the weir boat crews from Pangbourne College can often be seen training.
