Ancient Egyptian art was an obsession for me when I was younger and this depicts the journey of the soul through the netherworld to the Hall of Maat. There their purity would be the determining factor in whether they would be allowed to enter the Kingdom of Osiris. This painting is an example of a technique I used in the mid 90s. Using a blow dryer & splattering, moving & manipulating paint around the canvas to create an abstract background. Then Through a process of free association I would paint what I saw or imagined in the abstraction.
