This design includes a large Bee Line Dragway imprint on the back and a small AHRA logo on the front making it twice as cool! On July 20, 1963, ground was broken for a drag strip to be built on the Salt River Indian Reservation in what was then a pretty rural area in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jim Rodgers, national 1962 C/S drag champ, built the track on eighty acres of land leased for ten years from the Salt River Pima Indian tribe. Directions to the track were given as being four miles north of the McDowell Road on Arizona Highway 87. It was a 60-foot wide quarter-mile asphalt strip, with seating for 2,000 people, and a pit area to accommodate 300 cars. It opened for every-week Sunday racing on October 6, 1963, under AHRA sanction.

Phoenix Trotting Park Entrance is a black and white photographic art print of the abandoned horse racing track that was located in Goodyear, Arizona. I used some filters to create an edgy look to this black and white print highlighting the age of the facility. The architectural elements of this shot create an excellent black and white print. The Phoenix Trotting Park was originally built in 1964, opened in 1965 and ran for about two and a half seasons. The large futuristic structure from the 1960’s sat abandoned for many years in an area that at the time was far from Phoenix proper without major roads to access it. Igniting the air/fuel mixture in high performance racing engines is not an easy task to begin with, but factor in high compression, extreme boost pressures, exotic fuels, and a litany of other variables, and it can become near impossible. In the mid- '80s, Snake Bite Ignition Systems set out to design a complete ignition solution that was not only easy to dial in for any high performance engine application, but was daily driver reliable. From their shop in Phoenix, Arizona, Snake Bite's sophisticated hand fabricated systems were capable of lighting the fire in even the nastiest of big blocks, while still being able to control timing to one-tenth of a degree for one hundredth of a second in any cylinder through individual cylinder timing.
