St Morwenna & St John the Baptist, Morwenstow Number of views as of 22nd March 2017 = 880. The Parish Church of St Morwenna and St John the Baptist, Morwenstow, North Cornwall. The church stands overlooking a beautiful valley leading down to the Atlantic coast. The Reverend Robert Stephen Hawker was the vicar here from 1834 to 1875, and made a lasting contribution to the Church by originating the Harvest Festival. He was also known for his condemnation of plundering from wrecked ships and as an accomplished poet - he even built a driftwood hut overlooking the nearby cliffs from where he wrote. Morwenstow Church Number of views as of 7th July 2019 = 910. The Parish Church of St Morwenna and St John the Baptist, Morwenstow, North Cornwall. Originally posted to the Bubble Jeopardy group so that super-sleuth members could track down the name of the Church, its location and the name of its eccentric former clergyman. I'm a pastor, what's your superpower?

St John's, Spetisbury Number of views as of 19th January 2017 = 500. Regular visitors to my portfolio will know that I enjoy taking pictures of local (and not so local) churches. The county of Dorset in the south of England has a wealth of them. The church of St John the Baptist, in the village of Spetisbury (on the A350 Poole to Blandford road) is another fine example. Parts of the church, including the tower (which contains 6 bells) date from Norman times, though much of the church was rebuilt in the 1850s. Date: 17th October 2010.
