The small boatyard at Seaton Sluice in Northumberland on the North East coast of England. The image was shot from the southern bank of the Seaton Burn on a sunny but cold April afternoon. The building on the skyline is the Melton Constable pub seen from the back.

The Greenland town of Narsaq lies at the edge of the Greenland Ice Sheet and chunks of floating ice are common place. Boats are a necessity for locals, seen here in the boatyard next to Narsaq Marina. Locals can skilfully navigate a route through the ice flows. Taken on 19th June 2023 Nikon D780 Nikon 28-300mm

Old boats scattered around the small harbour and boatyard, known as 'Paddy's Hole' at South Gare near Redcar on the North East Coast with the lights of industry in the background always delivers photographically. It will be a very sad day when the remains of 'Jennifer' disappear forever! The inlet is named after the Irish navvies who helped build the breakwater at the mouth of the River Tees.

Boatyard Mc Boatface

The boatyard and marina at Santa Eulalia del Rio on the island of Ibiza as seen on a lovely sunny October morning. The busy marina is the largest on the Island of Ibiza with moorings for 763 boats a shopping area and around twenty restaurants with many different cuisines.

The mouth of the River Medina (Cowes, Isle of Wight) is surprisingly industrialised - but in a nice small business kind of way. If you take the slow car ferry from Southampton, this is the view you get as it comes into dock at Cowes. It caught my eye because of the jumble of interesting details such as the seaweed covered rails, the refuelling kiosk with its old pumps, the draped material for the doors, and the reflections on the windows - which are clearly not flat glass panels. I've painted this on a 16x12 inch board using oils and a lot of fiddling around with the detail.
