Papilio demoleus is a common and widespread swallowtail butterfly. The butterfly is also known as the lime butterfly, lemon butterfly, lime swallowtail, and chequered swallowtail. These common names refer to their host plants, which are usually citrus species such as the cultivated lime. Unlike most swallowtail butterflies, it does not have a prominent tail. The butterfly is a pest and invasive species, found from Asia to Australia. The butterfly has spread to Hispaniola island (Dominican Republic) in the Western Hemisphere.

Within the Athens National Garden is the rather remarkable Zappeion Hall, which was built for the first modern Olympiad in 1896. It's now used as a conference centre. I had walked in through the Greek temple-like entrance, assuming it was a public building, only to be challenged by a security guard. In the spirit of "It's better to beg forgiveness...", I asked if it would be okay to take a few pictures as it was such a stunning place. I got permission, and even a brochure, and was able to get a few images. I have to say the central courtyard was a geometric delight, perfectly circular with two tiers of columns surrounding a gorgeously laid-out chequer-tiled floor. It was quite spectacular.
