This Chairman Mao Zedong / Tse-Tung of Communist party of the People's Republic of China PRC is a great political propaganda gift for Chinese Communist, revolutionary or Socialist to wear in China.

The design comes from a Chinese propaganda poster made in 1967 in support of the North Vietnamese government in war against the American invasion and southern puppet government. All Hail Chairman Meow. A vintage Chinese propaganda poster redesigned, replacing Chairman Mao with a cat, Chairman Meow.

I repainted this from a crumpled original. I assume the Chinese text suggests certain things about fountain pen maintenance and safety, along with the importance of teamwork.

The motivation behind the movement was to unite and focus all 74 nationalist organizations for the Second Sino-Japanese War. Very creative and unusual composition in that it depicts the method and distribution of propaganda.

WWII propaganda leaflet which was used throughout Japanese occupied China. The leaflet asks Chinese citizens to assist downed American airmen and shows them what insignia is used by the Americans.

The Hai River, formerly known as the Peiho or Pei Ho, is a Chinese river connecting Beijing to Tianjin and the Bohai Sea. The Hai River at Tianjin is formed by the confluence of five rivers, the Southern Canal, Ziya River, Daqing River, Yongding River, and the Northern Canal. The southern and northern canals are parts of the Grand Canal. The Southern Canal is joined by the Wei River at Linqing. The Northern Canal joins with the Bai He (or Chaobai River) at Tongzhou. The Northern Canal (sharing a channel with Bai He) is also the only waterway from the sea to Beijing. Therefore, early Westerners also called the Hai He the Bai He. (I didn't want to go the obvious route and slap Mickey on there, and instead tried to find medium between Mao Zedong and a 1930's cartoon. For the other cartoons, recognizability wasn't a concern, but I kept it to the 1930's and the public domain.)

Stencil is an art technique that uses prints as the main tool. Stencil art is a branch of fine art. At the beginning of its development, the stencil technique was used for screen printing purposes, agency signs or vehicle plates. The use of stencil techniques usually uses equipment such as paper patterns and spray paint. Because the process uses a fixed pattern, stencil images are often displayed repeatedly, for example on wall media. Stencil art was born as a medium for criticizing urban life, such as in England, stencil art often appears in public places such as disused buildings, subway tunnels and city walls.

Mao Zedong introduced his idea of paper tigers to Americans in a 1946 interview with journalist Anna Louise Strong: "...he outcome of a war is decided by the people, not by one or two new types of weapons. All reactionaries are paper tigers. In appearance, the reactionaries are terrifying, but in reality they are not so powerful." A decade later, Mao was interviewed by Strong a second time, and invoked the concept again: "In appearance it is very powerful but in reality it is nothing to be afraid of; it is a paper tiger. Outwardly a tiger, it is made of paper, unable to withstand the wind and the rain. I believe that it is nothing but a paper tiger."
