City Of Granada Magnets

Standing on the ramparts of the Alhambra Palace and looking out over the city of Granada in Andalucia, Spain. Both a citadel and a palace, (the name means 'The Red One'), the Alhambra was founded by Spain's Islamic rulers in 1238 and shows magnificent examples of medieval Moorish architecture. When Spain again became Christian, it was chosen as the palace of the Spanish rulers - Ferdinand and Isabella. Here Catherine of Aragon, future Queen of England grew up. This image has a pastel finish.

Looking over Granada to the distant mountains from the gardens of the Alhambra Palace in Spain. The Moorish Alhambra or "Red Castle" originates from the 9th century and apparently became a royal palace in the 13th century. It passed into Christian hands when King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella conquered Granada in 1492. This was the home of the young Katherine of Aragon before her marriage to Prince Arthur of England and subsequently Prince Henry (later Henry VIII) following Arthur's death.
