This is my drawing of a container ship with cargo going across the ocean. I was inspired to draw this as I was a Commercial Marine Underwriter who handled ocean cargo insurance for many years.

From the outside of the museum the Port entry is facing towards the west south west with the setting sun at around 20 degrees in the sky slightly to the right of the frame. Container ship and port. The containers are the large rectangular boxes stacked up on the deck of the ship and in the docks. They are a uniform size for ease of handling and storage. They are moved on to the ship by the specially designed cranes seen in the background. The container system is an efficient means of transporting many and varied types of cargo. Photographed in Valencia harbour, Spain.

The Import Dock on the River Blyth in Northumberland on the North East coast of England. The dock is used as part of the Royal Northumberland Yacht Club marina, as a fishing boat berth as well as a container ship base.

After having some success and many favourable comments on a previous Lighthouse image, "Safe Passage", I decided to look back into other shots I had taken on the same stormy day at Perch Rock on The River Mersey. I found this shot, removed some dockyards from the background and replaced them with a stormy sky. Then I added some textures and layers of mist and inserted the ship from another image taken on the same day. I didn't touch the waves, they were actually battering the lighthouse. I also lit up the lighthouse and added the beam of light. All in all, there are about 20 layers including textures and an Orton layer, all blended in Topaz and Nik Efex in CS6. Branscombe Mouth Branscombe is a lovely village in South East Devon, England, situated in a wooded valley (or combe) leading down to the shore at Branscombe Mouth, and the amazing Jurassic Coast world heritage site. On the 18th of January 2007, a container ship (the MSC Napoli) carrying over 2000 containers was damaged in a storm in the English Channel, forcing the rescue of her crew. Two days later the Napoli was beached at Branscombe to enable the salvage of her cargo. Before the authorities could arrange proper security, 'wreckers' moved in causing chaos in the narrow lanes around the village and removing anything of value they could lay their hands on. Ever Given is one of the largest container ships in the world. The ship is owned by Shoei Kisen Kaisha (a shipowning and leasing subsidiary of the large Japanese shipbuilding company Imabari Shipbuilding), and is time chartered and operated by container transportation and shipping company Evergreen Marine, headquartered in Luzhu District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Ever Given is registered in Panama and its technical management is the responsibility of the German ship management company Bernhard Schulte. On 23 March 2021, while traveling from Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia to Rotterdam in the Netherlands, the ship ran aground in the Suez Canal. The ship remained in place for six days before salvage crews freed it on 29 March 2021.
