This beautiful panel of a garden scene was derived from the Prima Porta Frescoes from the so called House of Livia. These frescoes came from a basement room--where the Roman elite could keep cool in the hot summers while still enjoying this magical landscape of being outside. Some scholars have suggested that not all these plants and animals would be seen together at anyone time, therefore representing the Roman concept of cyclical time and the dawn of a new great age.

A tribute to Tomb Raider III.

I first discovered the Rabb Plantation located south of Brownsville, Texas on a bird watching trip in February of 2016. The beautiful plantation home, restored in 2013, serves as the Visitors Center for the Sabal Palm Sanctuary. On my most recent trip there, again for birds, I discovered this beautiful fresco when (pardon me) I had to use the restroom:) A plaque on the wall gave this description of the fresco, "This room, now re-purposed as a washroom, originally opened to the kitchen and served as a pantry. During the restoration process, the fresco you see here was discovered behind wooden paneling. While not believed to be original to the house's construction in 1892, its design and style are consistent with that of the 1920s-...

Design inspired by the work of Michelangelo, "The Creation of Adam," which is a masterpiece we can see in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. Design is a creative artistic transformation of the above-mentioned work. Instead of God, it presents a man who in a way creates himself - it is an allegory of man's vocation to constantly create himself and responsibility for his own life.

This Tee is inspired by The Last Judgment. Completed by the Italian Renaissance painter Michelangelo, it is a fresco covering the entirety of the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. It depicts the Second Coming of Christ and the final and eternal judgment by God of all humanity. The souls of humans can be seen rising and descending to their fates, as judged by Christ who is at the centre of the scene and surrounded by prominent saints. Altogether there are over 300 figures in the full painting, with nearly all the males and angels originally shown as nudes; many were later covered up by painted draperies. Fresco painted by Masaccio between 1425 and 1427, in the Cappella Brancacci, Florence. It depicts the grief-stricken Adam and Eve being driven out of the garden of Eden into the world outside by an armed angel after eating the forbidden fruit.
