Front Court Magnets

One of the highlights of visiting Cambridge is visiting the grounds of King's College. In this image, taken across the Front Court, are the Porter's Lodge and the Wikin's Building. I don't think anybody is allowed to walk on that grass; it is immaculately mowed. The Porter's Lodge serves as the entrance to the grounds and is a pure flight of Victorian fancy with its spires and dome.

Croome Court (England) is undergoing major refurbishment at the moment. The main House elevation is covered in scaffolding and a huge screen, with large artistic eyes ! If you look closely at the "eyes", they reflect Croome Church which is on the hill opposite. Croome Court is a mid 18th century Neo-Palladian mansion surrounded by an extensive landscaped parkland near Pershore in south Worcestershire. The mansion, and park, were designed by Lancelot "Capability" Brown with some of the internal rooms designed by Robert Adam. The park and garden are owned by the National Trust. The mansion house, Croome Court, was purchased by the Croome Heritage Trust and is currently leased to the National Trust. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II ...

Visiting Cambridge University requires that you visit the grounds of King's College. This is a view from the southeast across the Front Court of the Gibbs Building and the King's College Chapel to the right. The Gibbs Building, named after its architect, is built in a neoclassical style and completed in about 1730. I love this image for the way the building stands out in the bright sunlight; it just looks so proud across the immaculately mowed lawn.
