O'Doherty's rebellion took place in 1608 when Sir Cahir Rua O'Doherty (Irish: Sir Cathaoir Ruadh Ó Dochartaigh), Lord of Inishowen, began an uprising against the Crown authorities in the west of Ulster in the north-west of the Kingdom of Ireland. O'Doherty, a Gaelic chieftain, had been a long-standing supporter of the Crown, but having been angered at his treatment by local officials he launched an attack on Derry, burning the town. O'Doherty may have hoped to negotiate a settlement with the government, but, after his death in a skirmish at Kilmacrennan, the rebellion collapsed with the last survivors being besieged on Tory Island.

The Saint Patrick's Battalion (Spanish: Batallón de San Patricio, later reorganized as the Foreign Legion of Patricios), formed and led by John Riley, was a unit of 175 to several hundred (accounts vary) immigrants and expatriates of European descent who fought as part of the Mexican Army against the United States in the Mexican–American War of 1846–48. Most of the battalion's members had deserted or defected from the United States Army.

The History of the knight shirt is a design that I enjoyed making, and it looks good on all shirts.

This is an artistic rendition of a clan of Celtic warriors on the march to battle! I leave it open to interpretation what tribe of Celts these guys are. They could be Gauls or Britons on the march to kick some Roman butt. They could be Picts on the march to battle with invading Saxons. They could be Gaels looking to put down a rival clan. Regardless of how you see it, the ogham inscription at the center sews a common thread among all interpretations. It reads, “VICTORY!”

The Home Rule Bill

Dubliner Robert Emmet emerged as a young rebel leader after the 1798 Uprising was suppressed. Emmet traveled to France in 1800, seeking foreign help for his revolutionary plans, but returned to Ireland in 1802. He planned a rebellion which would focus on seizing strategic points in the city of Dublin, including Dublin Castle, the stronghold of British rule. Emmet's rebellion broke out on July 23, 1803 when a few hundred rebels took over some streets in Dublin before being dispersed. Emmet himself fled the city, and was captured a month later. After delivering a dramatic and often quoted speech at his trial, Emmet was hanged on a Dublin street on September 20, 1803. His martyrdom would inspire future generations of Irish rebels.
