Vivonne Bay’s six-kilometre-long U-shaped beach is the postcard-perfect spot to soak in the best of island life. Here, white sandy shores meet gently lapping waves. Fishing, swimming and driving to the island's other attractions are all worthwhile activities.

Sullivan Bay, Sorrento, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. Sullivan Bay is scattered with private jetties that stretch out into Port Phillip Bay and it is a popular site for photographers to shoot sunrise and sunset. When I arrived at the jetty on this morning there was already about six photographers set up waiting for the sun to rise. I took a range of shots including some long exposures. Sullivan Bay is the site of Victoria’s first white settlement back in 1803. The settlement was located on the eastern point. The two calcarenite headlands that border the 400 m long bay are known as The Sisters. A foreshore reserve backs the western half of the bay and the historic section of the eastern Sister. How gorgeous is this? I was lucky enough to get perfect weather for two nights running during my stay on the shores of Lake Menesjärvi, and it could not have been more beautiful. The midnight sun -- to the right of this frame -- made the clouds light up in different colours for hours on end and the lake was so still that it looked like this jetty was just floating in the sky. We were in Michigan to attend a wedding, staying at a lake house on Lake Lancer. It was the end of the summer, a cool, clear day with scattered clouds. It's a bit of a photographic cliché to capture an image out along a jetty, but given the opportunity, why not? I do hope you like it.

The beautiful town of Sirmione is situated at the end of a peninsular at the south end of Lake Garda in Northern Italy. This image was shot from the eastern side of the historical centre of the resort and Mallard ducks can be spotted on the clear, still water of the lake just before the sun set over the horizon at the end of another beautiful May day.
