North Shields is a small coastal town in the north east of England with a small fishing harbour. The illustration is based on 3 large sea buoys at the beach.

St Mary's Lighthouse and island lie north of the River Tyne and Whitley Bay on the North Sea coast of England. The lighthouse is no longer in operation and is now a museum and tourist attraction which is only accessible at low tide when the causeway is not under water. This image has been converted to black and white for added drama.

Roker Pier was constructed in 1868 with the lighthouse being built in 1903. It was all refurbished in 2018 and is now a popular tourist attraction for people visiting Sunderland, as well as being popular with local fishermen.

Newcastle England Union Jack

Looking along the Lockinge Brook towards the C12th church of All Saints at East Lockinge in Oxfordshire. This picturesque village is about 1.5 miles east of the market town of Wantage and sits in the North Wessex Downs, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This is a textured image developed from my original photograph to give the appearance of an oil painting.

Saint Mary's Island, off the North East coast at Whitley Bay, owes its name to the religious community that inhabited the island in medieval times when there was a chapel on the island. The remains of the chapel were destroyed when the lighthouse and cottages on St. Mary's Island were built in 1898. St.Mary's Lighthouse is now a grade II listed building and open to visitors at low tide when the causeway to the island can be crossed.

The pride of the North East

A view of the pond which is in the centre of the village of East Ilsley in Berkshire. The village can be found just off the A34 between Newbury and Abingdon. It sits nicely in a dip in the Berkshire (or North Wessex) Downs. Being near the Ridgeway path and other roadways it was an important trading place. It was also on a coaching route so had a number of inns. There was a weekly sheep market held here too. The pond itself has been recently cleared - and is much appreciated by the local ducks

The North East of England has a wonderful coastline, rugged coast, sandy beaches, A walk from Seahouses to Bamburgh takes you along the sandy beach and up into the grass covered sand dunes. Here from probably the highest viewpoint in the dunes the coast is shown with Bamburgh Castle to the left.

Hartlepool is a seaside town in the North East of England. It was established in the 7th century and grew with the importance of shipbuilding in the North East. It was one of few towns in England that suffered from bombardment from the German fleet in the First World War, It now has a popular marina for leisure boating.

Sycamore Gap is an area located on Hadrians Wall in the Northumberland area of North east England. The tree and wall are iconic and often photographed. The Fish Quay at North Shields is a colourful place at most times of the day, even at night when the day's work is done. This image was shot on a cold, bright December evening with the colourful boats nicely lit up under the flood lights and casting their reflections on the calm water.

This image was taken from Blyth beach in Northumberland, looking south towards St Mary's Island and lighthouse which can be spotted on the horizon. It was just before sunrise on a cold December morning, but the colours from the sky reflected beautifully in the wet sand and the waves took on a silvery glow in the early light.

This minimalist image was taken on a cold December morning from the beach at Blyth in Northumberland on the North East coast of England just as the sun was showing over the horizon giving the sky a beautiful yellow and red colour which was reflected on the wet sand and the waters of the North Sea. There is also a glimpse of St Mary's Lighthouse on the horizon and a loan seagull is silhouetted against the bright sky..
