Matrix for Transformation Collagraph Project Masonite Matrix for Printmaking Collagraph Assignment for Contemporary Print Project University Degree Glue, Carborundum, Yacht Varnish, Ink, oil Paint The "Matrix" is the plate where a printmaking work is made and used for printmaking. It can be a woodcut, lino, collagraph, etching, aquatint, drypoint and many more. The matrix is commonly not shown at all and usually shelved somewhere. As a printmaking teacher I like to be able to show the process of making a print. The print will be what we commonly call "Works On Paper". I will hopefully post that print in the next few days. Two plates Zinc plate inked up in a mix of colours. Second plate rolled leaves from the garden, which bring their own colour to the print when mixed with the ink on the plate. This is a reduction lino cut done with two blocks. One lays down the black and the other the orange. The white part is cut out completely so that it remains white. In this edition I did 20 and this is the only one I approve of. People don't often see the work that goes into printmaking and some treat it like a craft...but I find it the most difficult of all art mediums, not only do you have to come up with the concept and composition but you have to get your head...

Print made from woodcut print. Tried painting the woodcut like Cressinda Campbell and than printing it by spraying water. This did not work. so than I hand painted the whole print with watercolor paints. Layering day after day. Then outlining with black ink. The result is stunning. Acrylic on canvas covered in fabric. The fabric is sealed and stretched on top of the canvas and then sealed with rabbit skin glue. I then painted on the bird letting some of the fabric show through. I thought I would put this on my site. I painted this when I was 15 maybe. We used to live up on Olivers HIll which is Frankston Melbourne. My Father bought this car for my mother, that little orange bug down in the car park. I wanted to paint her car for her, so I painted the view off the deck and put her car in it. She loved it at the time. Now Olivers Hill looks so different.
