Pigeon Army Magnets

The National Pigeon Appreciation Day is on 6/13/23. This date is believed to have been chosen to honor pigeons as it marks the day when the famous pigeon, Cher Ami, passed away in 1919. Cher Ami helped save the lives of 194 soldiers during World War I.

This is my acrylic painting of purple poppies in a field. Purple poppies are used to remember animal victims of war and human violence. Animals cannot volunteer and have no choice in becoming involved in war when they serve alongside human military personnel. Those animals include dogs, horses, donkeys, pigeons, and camels.
